The Earth Federation Cosmo Navy (EFCN), more commonly referred to as the United Nations Cosmo Navy (UNCN), is the space navy branch of the Earth Federation Cosmo Force, the space-based military of the United Nations and later of the Earth Federation. The Cosmo Navy has jurisdiction over all military spacecraft operations defending Earth and interests inside and outside Earth's solar system. The Cosmo Navy comprises part of the United Nations Cosmo Force along with the United Nations Cosmo Marines. Spaceship combat and transit across space fall within the purview of the UNCN. The Cosmo Navy is led by a Commander-in-Chief (later changed to Supreme Commander); the position was filled by Admiral {character} in 2199.

The Combined Cosmo Fleet is the complex of the various fleets of the Earth Federation Cosmo Navy active by at least 2198 following its reorganization during the Great Garmillas War. The Combined Cosmo Fleet is the main force of the Earth Federation Cosmo Navy, composed of the various fleets operated by the organization. The Combined Cosmo Fleet was created either prior or during the Great Garmillas War, uniting all fleets in the United Nations Cosmo Navy under a single command. Admiral {character} served as Commander-in-Chief of the Cosmo Fleet for the duration of the war.

The Yamato (BBY-01) is a Earth Federation Cosmo Navy space battleship, and the inaugural vessel of the Yamato-class. First conceived as an evacuation ship for survivors fleeing the Great Garmillas War, an unexpected gift of highly advanced wave-motion technology from the planet Iscandar convinced the leadership of the United Nations Cosmo Force to use it in a more ambitious and dangerous plan to save all life on Earth from extinction. During its first year of service, Yamato and its crew also became involved in the Garmillas Civil War. The Yamato's basic structure is similar to that of a seagoing vessel. A keel runs through the bottom of the ship from front to back, Yamato's frame extends from it like a ribcage, and bulkheads divide its interior in compartments while also supporting their weight and making the vessel airtight and watertight. A conning tower is placed near the middle of the ship, there, Yamato's first and second bridges, as well as the captain's quarters are located. The ship has 24 decks, with the open-air deck as the 1st deck, the captain's quarters as the 12th upper deck, and the third bridge as the 12th lower deck. The main elevator runs smoothly through all 22 decks between the first and third bridges.

The Great Garmillas War, was an intergalactic conflict between the United Nations and the expanding Great Garmillas Empire. Garmillas forces dominated their adversaries for most of the war with superior technology and available military resources, and pushed Earth and the Terrans toward extinction. With the covert intervention of another civilization, humanity was able to fight back and eventually bring an end to the war.

The Terrans are a human species which originated on planet Earth. They made first contact with an alien species for the first time in 2191 with the Great Garmillas Empire, which sparked a devastating war that ruined the Earth's biosphere and decimated the planet's population. The conflict ended thanks to the aid of the Queen of Iscandar and, following a peace treaty with Garmillas and an alliance with the empire, the Terrans rapidly rose to prominence in intergalactic affairs.

The Zaltzi, are a human species originating from the destroyed planet Zaltz, located within the borders of the Great Garmillas Empire.

Zaltz is located within the borders of the Great Garmillas Empire. The great similarities between the Zaltzi and other human species such as the Terrans, the Iscandarians or the Garmillas suggests that Zaltz may be similar to these species' homeworlds in terms of atmosphere and geography.

The people of planet Iscandar created an empire, which expanded from its homeworld and brought war to the Large Magellanic Clouds. Its expantion was driven by the desire to encompass as many people as possible in Sanktel.

The Great Garmillas Empire is an intergalactic empire governing the Garmillan people. The empire was born out of the remnants of the Garmillas Grand Duchy and has since then spread far from its homeworld, the planet Garmillas, to encompass the entire Large Magellanic Cloud, much of the Small Magellanic Cloud, and parts of the Milky Way Galaxy. Its expansion has been driven in part by military conquest and the absorption of other peoples into the empire.

The planet Garmillas was the third planet of the Salezar system along with Iscandar, inside the Large Magellanic Cloud. It is the homeworld of the Garmillas people and the capital of the Garmillas Grand Duchy.

The Galmans are a human species native to the planet Galman. Thousands of years before present time, a selected group of Galmans was abducted by Iscandar's empire and was transported to Iscandar's double planet, creating the Garmillas ethnic group. Members of the Galman species are most obviously identified by their blue skin, which is commonly light blue but also ranges to purple, turquoise, and even charcoal. This skin is unique among all the alien races encountered by the Galmans, and for some members of the Garmillas ethnic group, it has become an important part of their supposed superiority. Galmans have purple blood. Aside from their unique skin and blood, Galmans are nearly identical to Earth humans, from anatomical structure down to the DNA level. Both species can eat many of the same foods, and can survive in the same environmental conditions for limited periods of time. The Galmans are unable to live for a long period outside of their homeworld. This is due to their bodies having an extremely low tolerance to endemic diseases from other worlds. A permanence of 10 or more years on an alien planet without visiting their homeworld, can cause the risk of contracting said diseases and dying to greatly increase. The only solutions available are to find or create environments that exactly match those of the planets Galman or Garmillas, or to interbreed with local populations

The Garmillas Grand Duchy was born after Grand Duke Erich unified the aristocratic families that had ruled Garmillas for years up until 2170, for this reason the newborn nation was governed by a strong aristocracy. A small group of selected nobles who had performed a ritual known as "Blood Oath" could be summoned by the Grand Duke to make important decisions on the future over the country. The Duchy's subjects were divided between first and second class subjects, much like in the later Great Garmillas Empire, pureblood Garmillans occupied the first class while the alien peoples conquered by the Grand Duchy occupied the second. The city of Baleras served as the seat of government, with the Grand Duke reigning from his mansion in the city. The Baleras Knights Hospitallers were in charge of the personal security of the Grand Duke.

The Salezar System is the star system home of the Garmillas and Iscandarians. It consists of the star Salezar and five planets orbiting it, including the double planets Garmillas and Iscandar and the ringed gas giant Epidora. It was the seat of the Great Garmillas Empire and the Iscandar's empire. The System is a star system situated in the Large Magellanic Cloud. It's composed of all objects orbiting the low mass M-type dwarf Salezar. The system has five planets, including the double planets Garmillas and Iscandar in the third orbit, and the ringed gas giant Epidora in the fourth.

Iscandar lies one hundred sixty-eight thousand light years from Earth. Eighty percent of Iscandar's surface is covered by water. Along with an atmosphere that is similar to that of Earth before the Garmillas War, at least part of the planet's landmass supports a moderately warm climate. Complex life has evolved on Iscandar, including forests and grasslands, Blue Crystal flowers, animals resembling terrestrial birds and fish, and a technologically advanced human-like species. Underneath its surface lies Sanctel, a huge storage that stretches throughout the entire planet like a spider's web which contains the memories of the Iscandarians preserved in a crystaline form.

Iscandarians were a human species native to the planet Iscandar. One of the first humanoids to evolve, the Iscandarians built a powerful empire based on their great understanding of wave-motion energy, and brought war to much of the Large Magellanic Cloud with the ultimate objective of destroying lives to crystalize them for eternity in a wave-motion state. Eventually, most of the Iscandarian race underwent the same process, and instead enslaved the Garmillas race to continue their campaigns for them. Much of the later history of the Iscandarians would be characterised by their unique relation with the Garmillas and by Queen Starsha Iscandar's attempts to clean up her race's violent past. By the 22nd century, the only surviving Iscandarians were siblings, and did not necessarily represent the full range of features in the species. They resembled Terrans or Zaltzians in appearance, except for exceptionally brighter eye colors in some cases. The memories stored in Iscandarian brains could be accessed by equipment designed for Terrans. Genetic differences between the two species were negligible, enough for an Iscandarian woman to conceive a child with a human father. Despite the similarities with humans, Iscandarians possessed significant psychic capabilities, including some telepathy and the ability to project individual consciousness into other beings and to take partial control of them.

The Large Magellanic Cloud is a spiral, irregular satellite galaxy of the Milky Way. It orbits at a distance of 41 kiloparsecs, or 133,600 light years, from the outer edge of the Milky Way Galaxy. A Massive Astrophysical Compact Halo Object (MACHO) is situated in the gaseous halo of the Cloud.
